Ford commemorated the 60th anniversary of the iconic Mustang with a special event held at Charlotte Motor Speedway, marking six decades since the debut of the original Mustang at the New York World's Fair. As part of the celebration, Ford introduced a new trim known as the 60th Anniversary Package.
For the record, this is only an appearance package, but it is a pretty cool one.
The Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary package will boast several exclusive features, including badges on the fenders and trunk lid reminiscent of the original design, along with a serialized anniversary instrument panel badge. Additionally, it will showcase unique 20-inch wheels inspired by the 1965 Mustang's center caps. The package will also introduce a new grille with a modernized mesh design, featuring silver-accented nostrils that double as functional air intakes.
Just 1,965 examples will be available. The number represents the first model year for the Mustang. Ford called the original a 1964 1/2 model, though state DMVs titled them as 1965s.
Customers interested in the 60th anniversary edition of the Mustang will have the choice of classic Wimbledon White, contemporary Race Red, and Vapor Blue colors. Additionally, they can opt for a side stripe available in either red or silver. Interior color options include gray, red, or black. Furthermore, each vehicle will feature a special serialized 60th Anniversary badge on the instrument panel.
2024 Mustang owners will be able to get in on the retro feel also.
Ford is enhancing the 2024 Ford Mustang experience by offering customers the option to choose a heritage-inspired 1967–1968-gauge cluster through software updates. This feature blends the finest elements of Mustang design from various eras, delivering a timeless and classic ambiance.
