Porsche recently tested their upcoming model, likely to be named the Turbo GT, at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. The vehicle achieved an impressive lap time of 7:07.55, marking a significant improvement of 26 seconds over the Taycan Turbo S's performance in 2022. Moreover, it outpaced the Tesla Model S Plaid by a remarkable 18 seconds.
Driven by development driver Lars Kern, the pre-production car showcased its exceptional performance, placing the Taycan among the ranks of electric hypercars. Kern's lap time of 7:07.55 was notably close to consistent across multiple laps, indicating the car's sustained high performance even under rigorous conditions, a rarity among electric vehicles.
Notably, the Taycan's lap time is just two seconds shy of the Rimac Nevera, an exclusive electric hypercar renowned for its power and speed. While impressive, the Porsche's achievement is still 37 seconds behind the current Nürburgring lap record held by the Mercedes-AMG One at 6:30.70.

Despite the ongoing debate between electric and traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, this accomplishment underscores the remarkable advancements in performance across the automotive industry. Indeed, it's a thrilling time for enthusiasts of all powertrain technologies.
